My Easter Traditions by Shelley

Easter Sunday as a kid was a big deal. The morning started with excitement, not just for the Easter baskets waiting for me and my brother, but for the special feeling in the air. My mom would help put my hair in a braid or ponytail and a bow.
Then came church. It felt extra fancy on Easter, with everyone dressed up and the pews filled with families. I didn’t always understand the sermon, but I knew Easter was important.
I’d swing my feet under the wooden bench, trying to sit still, but my mind was already on the egg hunt waiting for us after. The best part? The music. The choir sang louder, the songs felt happier, and even as a kid, I could feel the joy in the room.
After church, it was all about food and family. The kitchen smelled like ham, deviled eggs, and something sweet baking in the oven.
We’d run around outside, hunting for eggs while the grown-ups talked and laughed on the back porch. It was the kind of day that felt endless in the best way—full of sunshine, sugar, and people I loved.

Fast forward to today, and Easter still holds that magic for me. But now, I get to create my own traditions, like refreshing my front porch for spring with a new bunny rug and freshly replanted flower pots.
It’s a little way to bring that Easter joy into my home, blending childhood memories with the excitement of a new season.
Fast forward to today, and Easter still holds that magic for me. But now, I get to create my own traditions, like refreshing my front porch for spring.
This year, I’ve added a new bunny rug that brings an instant dose of Easter charm, and I’ve given my flower pots a fresh coat of paint to brighten up the space.
There’s something about adding those little seasonal touches that makes the holiday feel even more special.
